Grandmaster Sok Pong Kim Flying side kick
Grandmaster Sok Pong Kim was the founder of the Australian Taekwondo Academy WA in 1975 until his passing in 1999 . Grandmaster Kim was 8th dan kukkiwon at the time of his death in 1999 . The grandmaster had many great instructors who continue to carry on his Taekwondo legacy Through out Western Australia . On the goldfields he promoted many black belts over time , such as Quan Pham , Vin Ong , Michelle hockley , Jeff Kingswood , Ian Hargins , Shane Monroe , James Odonnell , and James Kolatowicz . Also teaching in Kalgoorlie was the late Mr Robert John Lee 3rd Dan ITF and WTF he trained Michelle , Jim and James in the early 90s before Mr Vin Ong became instructor teaching taekwondo and Hapkido selfdefence . When Mr ong moved from Kalgoorlie then Mr Quan Pham took over the Kalgoorlie club as instructor . When Mr Pham moved from Kalgoorlie Michelle and James took over the instructing . Michelle gave up teaching in 2003 then James Kolatowicz took over with the help of Halina Kolatowicz . Halina gave up Taekwondo in 2006 . Ann Cuypers moved from Belgium in 2007 and joined the local club ,she had many years of taekwondo training behind her and earning her 2nd Dan in Belgium and her 3rd Dan with Kalgoorlie ATA Taekwondo . Ann moved from Kalgoorlie at the end of 2010 . James Kolatowicz 4th Dan is now assisted by Richard charlton 2nd Dan and Cale lock-healey 1st Poom .The end of 2011 Richard Charlton moved to Mandurah and Callum Plackett was promoted to 1st Poom . 2012 We gained John kakousidis 4th Dan former South Coast Taekwondo Instructor and Fiona Lock achieving her 1st Dan and taking on a teaching roll in 2013 .2015 John Kakousidis moved back to Adelaide in July. 2016 we gained Steven Shaw 3rd Dan former Oh Do Kwan Taekwondo and lived and trained in Korea and Japan.

The late Mr Robert Lee was a 3rd Dan WTF & ITF , he was an Instructor in Kalgoorlie in the late 90s for the Australian Taekwondo Academy Kalgoorlie Branch.
